Tips on Buying a Sofa There are few purchases that one makes for the Arizona Home that are used as a focal point more than the sofa. Follow these tips to ensure that the rest of your decor will blend.
When decorating or changing the décor in your home, most people will have to purchase one or two large items such as a sofa or dining table. These may be the priciest objects in your home so choose pieces with the idea that they will be with you for several years and have to survive much wear.
Getting the sofa selection right can make the room.
I would suggest that your sofa be a piece that you do not skimp on when it comes to spending a little more money. There is a tendency to want to get a room together all at once and in that mind set, one might settle for a less well made piece in order to purchase other furniture as well. But, a good sofa that will stay versatile over the years and take the wear you ultimately will give it, is a good idea and investment for your money.
Choose a neutral color and I think it is a good bet to stay with a solid. There are many couches that come with your choice of slip covers which is a fun idea because you can take them off and in many cases, wash them at home and then slip them back on. This also addresses the idea of changing the color of your sofa when you decide you are up for another shade without much additional cost. When you choose a solid as opposed to a print, your ability to change throw pillows and change the accent colors in your room grows. But, whatever your taste, even if you have fallen in love with a print or patterned sofa, take time to sit and relax in it in the show room before you purchase it. You want a piece that is comfortable and that you just LOVE.
Your room will come together if you take time to find pieces that really strike you as an individual. If you are shopping in the antique stores we have here in the valley and a piece jumps out at you I would encourage you to buy it and take it home if you haven’t a place in mind specifically, eventually you will find the perfect corner for it. I am still kicking myself for passing up a couple of funky chairs I spied a year ago in a little store on McDowell Road one afternoon. When I went back after “thinking it over” they had found another home. I had no idea where I would put them but I have since said a million times, “Those two chairs would have looked perfect here.”
