The Curtain Calls!
Gone are the days of one size curtain rods to fit all. Arizona decor mavens are venturing into color, iron, decoratiion to brighten and enhance a room.

There was a time when the basic pocket curtain rod was perfectly acceptable. More and more variations on that theme are appearing in every store imaginable. Brilliant colors are showing up in curtain panels with imaginative variations in how they hang from the rod.

Tab tops secured with a button, bow ties, grommets or ribbon are showing up attached to decorative iron rods as well as unusually filigreed wooden rods.

The point here is imagination and style.

It is easy and quick to start with a curtain panel off the rack, so to speak, and then add your own individual touches to change the look of your room.

Decorative Rods

Look for decorative rods that may add interest to your window treatment. Interchangeable finials can be found in most stores and catalogues.

Tiebacks

Use all of your imagination here. Have fun trying different styles and contrasting colors from your panels. There are no wrong answers here for your curtains. Try raffia to pull your panels back when you are letting the light into your room. Ribbon, yarn or several contrasting colors of fabric braided into a tieback look fantastic.

Valances

Lack of formal structure seems to be the trend here. Draping yards of fabric loosely over your rod brings a soft, romantic feel to any room. Play with your material until you get it looking like you want it. Anything goes! Toss a lace tablecloth over the top or a colorful scarf if you wish.

Remember you don’t have to be adept at handling a sewing machine or even have one. Grommets can be purchased at all fabric stores and the really large ones can be found in tent and awning shops. The instrument you will need to use to place them in your fabric can also be purchased and you are in business. A slender rod woven through grommets is just a fun, simple finish to your window. Threading ribbon with a bow secured at either end, over the curtain rod is another look you might want to experiment with.

Remember to incorporate balance into your room with your window coverings. Light airy fabrics look better on metal or iron rods that have a significant amount of decoration in the finials.

Time to step away from the old mini blind craze and DECORATE your world!
