Even if you cannot devote an entire room to your personal space and tastes, you can create a special nook or corner in your bedroom or living room just for you.
This concept is a bit “selfish” but think about having a favorite chair nestled in a cozy corner where you can curl up with a good book for an hour or so. Surround yourself with personal items that have meaning and bring comfort to you and take a short nap.
Perhaps you love music or enjoy some quiet time to write in a personal journal or laptop. Whatever your interests, make a space for yourself, just for you to seek solace in after a long tiring day.
If your lifestyle supports devoting a room to this, choose a smaller bedroom to convert into your “nest”. Adding built in bookshelves on a wall can give you plenty of room to surround yourself with books or a collection of your favorite personal objects that remind you of soft, happy moments. A small stereo and your collection of classical or jazz CD’s and you are set to unwind before or after dinner. If you are a writer, you might want to add a small desk where you can sit for an inspired hour or so and create that novel you have been dreaming of writing.
